OUR STORY
Vadodara, Gujarat - based artist Kinnari Gandhi is an illustrator and ink evangelist who prefers pens and pencils to pixels. She is inspired by her daughter’s artworks and her passion for art. The artworks hold a unique vibration of calm, healing energy that radiates out and connects with the viewers. Each piece evolves from an intuitive process that relies heavily on her knowledge of design, detail and visual balance.
The passion and interest have directed her towards two art styles that are visually different but inspired by the same source of energy. The mandala practice is highly disciplined, with each artwork being meticulously drawn or painted. Whereas, her doodle designs are created with a technique of many miniature characters forming one big picture. The dualism in her art practice is complementary and interconnected. Her densely composited pen and ink illustrations contain thousands of whimsical characters.
She works mainly with ink, fineliners and markers to display her “doodle” world. She considers her art as a personal hobby which became her part-time freelance work after being recognized by various online communities. Being a homemaker, she kept following her passion: creating more art for personal projects and for clients. Her drawings are inspired by famous artworks that form a complex and detailed composition. Another theme is mandalas consistent symmetric compositions, hand drawn on different kinds of paper. Some recent subjects include geometrically shaped mandalas and some wildlife inspired works on drawing sheets and handmade papers. Her characters are sometimes illustrations of historical personages or customs, but often there is no relationship at all, and no overarching theme. The contrast between this unorganized and the specific theme is typical of her work, she says.
MEET OUR ARTIST

My goal as an artist is to create art that uplifts and inspires those who purchase or come into contact with my work.
“For me, the process of creating a mandala is always one of inspired revelation, elemental surprise, and pure bliss.”
My preferences would be (on paper) fountain pens, coloured pencils, calligraphy markers, and most recently acrylic & watercolours. I enjoy working on paper and have a plethora of sketchbooks in various sizes. To me, art isn’t about technique – it’s about expression.
